The EWI MTFM-8 series snake is a medium
quality professional dual fantail XLR patch snake.
This snake is typically used to extend a snake, used as a drop
snake, or for patching effects.
Both the male and female XLR fantail ends have a mesh
grip strain relief. On each XLR fantail, the channels are clearly
labeled with indelible ink printed on the tubing at each connector.
The channels are labeled 1 through 8, and they are color coded in
groups of 2 each. The groups are bundled with 3 short, loose
fitting pieces of clear loom that can be slid up or down the fantail
as desired. This helps keep the fantails from getting tangled
and facilitates easy channel identification. The fantail length is
about 22" giving you about a 38" to 40" functional spread.
These longer MTFM-8 versions are
typically used as drive snakes to send the return signal from the FOH mix position to the amp racks on stage.
These longer drive snakes have 22" fantails, and a mesh grip strain relief
hanger at each fantail. NOTE: These snakes are now
equipped with the EWI ES3FB-GDP and EX3MB-GDP black anodized cast
zinc XLR connectors with gold plated contacts. The pictures
show an older version of XLR connectors.
The cable itself is constructed with EWI SMM series cable with
99.98% pure 22ga. high strand count copper conductors and
individually jacketed pairs shielded by 100% coverage spiral shield
on each pair. The
connectors are all EWI ES3B-GDP XLR models.
