Technical Description

These are the EWI Tourcase tm Model RU Series rack cases which have an 18.25" rack depth measured from the front rack rails to the rear rack rails.  The rails are available in 5 heights: 10U (17.5"), 12U (21"), 14U (24.5"), 16U (28"), 18U (31.5") and are drilled and tapped for standard #10 x 32 racking screws.  These racks are suitable for all standard 19" wide rack gear.

The RU series side panels are constructed with 3/8 inch hardwood plywood and covered with a black ABS laminate finish.  The extrusion is all double walled aluminum and the case is assembled with quality stainless steel rivets.  The rivets on the 4 recessed padded flip handles are backed with washers to ensure strength and durability.  The cases roll on 4 heavy duty 4" swivel casters, two of which are braking style. The casters are shipped un-mounted with all mounting hardware included.

The case is equipped with two removable lids.  Each lid has four heavy duty ball corners and the inside of the RU series lids are fully padded with medium density foam rubber.  The lids are secured to the case using 4 recessed butterfly latches per lid. The R10U case is equipped with 2 butterfly latches per lid.  Either lid will fit on either side of the case, right-side up or upside down.

These are well made heavy duty cases manufactured to exacting tolerances and suitable for a variety of racking applications.

Shown above is a picture of an R16U "all dressed up and ready for the show."   This is an example of a typical application for a rack I use myself loaded with crossovers, patch-bays, and amps. 

The front locking casters are in the "lock" position in this picture. I prefer to mount the two locking casters in the front. You might note that in the picture I have an empty 3U space in the bottom, which allows me to stow my speaker cables in the bottom of the amp rack.
